Preventative measures and measures to slow down the weed growth that we can offer include the use of aeration equipment to improve the oxygen levels, the addition of pond dye to your water and/or barley straw rafts and barley straw extract. In addition, the introduction of fish or other plants can help control weed growth as well as light, environmentally friendly chemicals and we can advise on the best method to use for your particular case.
For weed removal in larger lakes we use larger scale weed rakes. This process involves floating a weed rake over submerged weed beds, then lowering in the weed rake and pulling it across the target area to pull the weed from the roots. For smaller lakes/ponds, we use a smaller raker that can be thrown in the edge of the lake and pulled back or we can get into the pond and remove the weed by hand.
Lakes suffering from the growth of algae and duckweed require a specific form of treatment. We have a purpose made boom which we can use if your water suffers from this and it has proven highly effective in removing algae and duckweed.
